OUR NEXT WALKS
Saturday 16 October: Compass Walk East to Rodbridge/Nethergate Brewery (8 miles)
Saturday 20 November: Circular Walk 6 (Chilton Street) (6 miles)
Saturday 11 December: (Short) pre-Christmas Walk (3 miles)
Monday 27 December: (Even shorter) post- Christmas Walk, ending at the Globe
There is now no need to book for these walks, just come along to the Old Goods Shed in the Country Park at 10am for a prompt 10.15 start (NB 27 December is 11 am start), wear appropriate footwear and clothing, and be confident about being able to do the distance.
TUESDAY SHORT WALKS
Our 2 mile (70 minute) walks at 10.15 for 10.30 from the Country Park car park are still proving popular with numbers between 20 and 30 every week. If you are interested in coming along for a stroll and a chat with a very sociable group Pete and Val Phillips and their helpers will be very pleased to welcome you.
COMPASS WALKS
Thanks to the efforts of Sharon and Carl Benson and Matt Lovejoy, and to the Country Park and the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the funding, we now have three new walk leaflets:
Compass Walk North to Hawkedon
Compass Walk East to Rodbridge
Compass Walk West to Haverhill.
These are freely available from the Visitor Centre in the Country Park. (If you haven’t visited it yet, please do; it’s definitely worth a look). They can also be downloaded from our website.
These are linear walks of about 8 miles, to be tackled only by those confident of walking the distance and with return transport planned. They complement the Magna Carta Walk that was produced for 2015 in collaboration with Castle Hedingham. This we have adopted as our Compass Walk South, to complete the set.
