Health Walks

Stepping Out in Suffolk, administered by OneLife Suffolk offers a wide range of Health Walks for all people.   They are organised throughout the County and provide the walker with a variety of choices from countryside to more urban walks.  Two separate quarterly/seasonal programmes are produced, one for Waveney and another covering the rest of the County: find them at OneLife Suffolk, or alternatively hard copies are available from all Suffolk libraries.  The October-December list for our area is here.

Various gradings of walks are available from Grade 1 for up to 30 minutes on flat surfaces through to longer walks of up to 90 minutes at Grade 5 which can include uneven ground with stiles and a faster pace.

You do not have to have health issues to join these walks, many walkers join to improve their wellbeing and meet new friends.  OneLifeSuffolk works closely with the Ramblers so those walkers who want to progress onto longer walks may transfer smoothly to our local Ramblers’ groups.

The walks are led by volunteer walk leaders who complete a full day’s training; once trained they are supported by Health Walk Coordinators.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for this great walking programme, please contact info(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)onelifesuffolk.co.uk

Clare’s own Walks Group is looking into forming its own set of volunteer walk leaders to offer such walks around Clare.
